“We attended a big celebratory Mass in the chapel where Msgr. Oscar Romero was assassinated as he lifted the elements at the Offertory on this day, March 24, 1980. The celebrating bishop spotted two of us Episcopalians and invited us to join the procession. There was representation from Lutherans, Evangelicals, Old Catholics, and others. Now, we will join a march to downtown where we will accompany those who will present a petition to the Supreme Court that has been signed by thousands of Salvadoreans against a gold mine that is likely to be an ecological disaster.”

“Today, we joined the Anglican Bishop of El Salvador in a little indigenous community in the mountains. We celebrated St. Oscar Romero, and he confirmed two people, and two young people made their First Communion. Afterwards, we had a meal and had a discussion about what it’s like to live there. They are building their church building from the ground up under their own steam.”

“Yesterday was a long day. We went to the base ecclesial community that is the organizing committee in the community. We went on procession with them and then celebrated with them in the evening, including a Roman Catholic Mass, in which we were fully included. This was all in honor of St. Oscar Romero.”
