St. Paul’s has established the Carter Care Project to provide support for Carter’s family. The Project has two components. The first is coordination of the help and food people want to give to Carter and his family. This might include a meal, help with laundry, child care, transportation and other ways of helping the family through this stressful time.
The second component of the Project is the Carter Fund described in the statement below. Gifts received for this fund will go directly to pay utilities. to vendors for services, or for gas and food cards.
There also links to two CarterCare blogs maintained by Carter’s family. The other link is to the Children’s Palliative Care Community founded by Dr. Katie Eastman. Katie has recently moved to Anacortes, attends Celebration Lutheran and has very generously shared her knowledge and expertise with St. Paul’s to set up this project. We are grateful to her and look forward to her helping to connect Carter and his family with sources of support. Hopefully the network that we set up for Carter will be a model for caring for other seriously ill children in our community.
